 Summary

‘CLIL’ stands for content and language integrated learning. It’s an approach to teaching in which subjects are taught in a second language – in this case, English. After focusing on the principles behind CLIL, the course moves on to look at effective practises for teaching school subjects through English, explaining how to plan, teach and assess in a CLIL context. By learning to relate the theory with practice, you’ll be able to effectively deliver the learning outcomes you need for your class.

 Methodology

The course is designed mostly to be hands-on and practical, while theoretical issues focus on the principles of CLIL. Practical parts of the course are related to group experience and needs and are based on collaborative work, both as pair and group project work. CLIL methodology is explored and discussed, developing the participants’ use of their communication skills in English. Participants put course content into practice by setting up exercises and delivering a mini lesson with a colleague. The course ends with presenting learning outcomes and an evaluation session.
